Charlotte Hughes

Speech-Language Pathologist (Teletherapist)

Charlotte is a speech and language pathologist originally from the U.K. and raised in Ireland. She graduated from the University of Limerick with an MSc in Speech and Language Therapy and is a current member of the Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists (IASLT) and Speech Pathology Australia (SPA).

In her undergraduate degree, she read English Literature alongside History of Art and Architecture at Trinity College Dublin, achieving a BA (Honours) in both. After teaching English for a short time in Hebei, China (TEFL), Charlotte recognized how important communication and language were, these being the human elements that connect people all around the world. It was the increasing awareness of the challenges and vulnerability facing those without a voice that motivated her to pursue a career supporting individuals to access basic communicative support.

Whilst living in Australia she worked with a range of clients from different paediatric settings; with a strong focus on populations with additional needs, developmental communication difficulties, and traumatic brain injury.

Charlotte is particularly passionate about supporting individuals on the Autism Spectrum with functional social communication.  She is also well versed in handling caseloads that involve school-aged children with language and learning issues.

Charlotte takes pride in delivering client-centred care that is personalised to service users' needs and abilities, whatever their age or station in life. She understands that children's play is their work and adapts pediatric therapy sessions to suit the developmental level and abilities of the children involved, with a strong focus on their strengths and motivations.

At this Centre, Charlotte is well able to draw from a range of rich resources ranging from Dr Karen Stagnitti’s Learn to Play (Advanced), Conscious Discipline, Social Thinking and a myriad of tools that allow her to effectively support her clients and their families. Charlotte brings a touch of creativity, kindness, and fun to her therapy and believes this is a rewarding way to achieve goals and reach successful outcomes.

In her spare time Charlotte enjoys lindy hop dancing, anything musical or artistic, and getting lost in a good book.
