Merrin graduated with a first class honors in Pediatric Occupational Therapy from the Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal. Whilst pursing her tertiary education she has not only worked in acute and rehabilitative settings, she has collaborated with schools to support the child in the desired daily school activities or ‘occupations’. Furthermore she has worked on a dissertation titled “developing a tool to assess social participation in children with special needs” and wishes to take it forward.
Merrin developed her passion for working with special needs children from an early age, while following her mother’s footsteps. She has worked with children with various abilities and disabilities and believes that children learn best through meaningful activities that are fun and motivating.
Merrin is passionate about assisting and supporting children to reach their potential as well as their families. She has had formal and informal training in assessment of sensory issues, motor and processing skills and managing challenging behaviors.
During her free time, Merrin is either trekking, being in the outdoors, cooking or getting lost in music and performance.
