Educational Therapy is a type of therapy that focuses on academic transitions and management. It addresses the following areas:
Literacy difficulties (dyslexia, reading, writing, spelling).
Math difficulties (dyscalculia, math anxiety, calculation and numerical reasoning).
Shadow support (mediating and facilitating the mainstream curriculum with scaffolded supports). This differs from tuition in that tuition does not target the underlying learning deficit, only the surface level rote learning. This impacts on true learning.
Behaviour issues (often tied to difficulties with the frustrations of schooling). ETs work closely with educational psychologists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, and teachers to find practical solutions.
